The MSCA-IF (Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions – Individual Fellowship) is a unique funding opportunity. Our dedicated workshop covers both technical and scientific attributes needed for a competitive proposal.

COVID-19 Update: As long as travel restrictions remain in effect due to COVID-19, this workshop will only be available through our online webinar option (more information below).

The objectives and added value:

In this workshop, we cover everything you need to know in order to propose a competitive MSCA-IF application. Experience shows that it is important to fully understand the unique aspects and expectations of this funding program prior to beginning the proposal preparation journey. The MSCA-IF is an individual fellowship scheme, considered to be a prestigious and competitive grant, which serves as a unique opportunity for researchers moving within or to Europe (from anywhere in the world), to acquire and transfer new knowledge and skills, while expanding their networks and disciplinary borders.

The topics we’ll cover:

  • Horizon 2020 introduction
  • Introduction to MSCA-IF
  • Eligibility rules and guidelines
  • Types of IF actions
  • The Excellence section
  • The Impact section
  • The expected CV of an MSCA-IF researcher
  • Evaluation panels
  • Funding & budget
  • How to write a competitive IF proposal
  • Ethical considerations
  • Evaluation process
  • ESR and resubmission

As we discuss the above, we always keep in mind the most important grant writing aspect – the point of view of the reviewers. Since we know what reviewers are looking for, we know exactly what researchers should focus on and what they should avoid.

At the end, participants will acquire a thorough and deep understanding of the MSCA-IF’s technical rules and requirements, and should feel better prepared to propose competitive applications that meet the expectations of the reviewers.

Important considerations:

  • When is a good time to participate? We recommend attending a workshop or online course as soon as possible, and no later than 3 months before the relevant MSCA-IF deadline, to allow considerable time for the proposal preparation phase.
  • Who participates in our MSCA-IF workshop/online course? Participants are first-time MSCA-IF candidates, applicants who have submitted to MSCA-IF in the past and wish to resubmit, and Research managers & Funding Advisers who wish to deepen their understanding about the MSCA-IF grant.
