This dedicated course will focus on best management practices of Lump sum model projects in Horizon Europe. Read more about this here. The training will address the following topics:

  • DoA to reality: revisiting, adapting, adjusting when needed and monitoring the original Description of Action (DoA) budget to the execution reality. Similar to Course E.1 above, this is a basic step for ensuring smooth execution of the project. In this course we will focus on the specifics of the Lump Sum cost model when approaching this step.
  • Lump sum projects are supposed to be easier to manage (financially) compared to Actual costs. However, due to the fact that Article 25 in the Grant Agreement is in force, which effectively means that the EC still has the power to conduct financial audits in Lump sum projects, it is recommended to mind the subtle issues that this situation entails. This training will tap into that.
  • How to adapt Actual cost model practices for the benefits of Lump sum model projects
  • Record keeping in Lump sum projects
  • Financial management of multiple concurrent projects, similar to the chapter in Course E.2 above, but with specific focus on Lump sum projects alone or in combination with Actual cost model projects.
  • Handling deviations from the original budget (lump sum focus)
  • Handling transfers between partners (lump sum focus)
  • Handling over- and under-spending (lump sum focus)
  • Handling contract amendments (lump sum focus): if, when and how?
  • Tools and templates for effective financial management
